Back Door of Hell Baby!

Seriously, are you kidding me with the freaking heat or what? I am so over the summer already and it just started! It has been hot here since May! Everything is brown and dead. All along the roadsides I see big patches of burned trees and land. I assume the fires are started from people throwing out their cigarettes. They always start at the roadside and head into the pastureland. This morning Jan and I went to Luling for the Watermelon Thump. It took us about 1 hour to get there. It was so hot that after 1 hour I had sweat running down my back and Jan was having mo more of the heat.! Sweltering it was! We had to get back in the car and head to Lockhart where we stopped for some to go BBQ at Kreuz's market! Just the best BBQ in the world! It was crowded and we had to stand in line in front of all the pits and sweated some more! But it was worth it. I brought home ribs, brisket, and smoked ham. We had ribs for lunch and brisket for dinner. Tomorrow we will have eggs and ham! Gotta love the low carb diet!I am so hoping it will rain soon. We saw all these beautiful purple wild flowers growing in the pastures today. I have never seen anything like them and of course did not have my camera with me. Everything else was dead and brown but these flowers were out there just blooming away. Heat and draught be damned! I may have to go back out that way soon to get a better look at those flowers and get a picture of two.

I have been having a hard time lately with not wanting to work. I am tired all the time and have to really push myself to get up in the mornings and get going. I am taking aspirin for my arthritis and for the most part it seems to help somewhat but I am never completely pain free. I wonder if I will ever be pain free. I try not to complain but I swear some days are tough.I think the hot weather has a lot to do with the feeling of being wiped out. It makes me think about my future and how much longer I will be able to work. I am in no financial way able to even cut my hours back. I have a lot of bills for someone who has nothing. I mean I have a house, car, and that is about it. Even my computer is obsolete. My TV is over 10 yrs old and the one in the bedroom I got in 1989. My furniture is worn and the last piece of new furniture I bought was a console table 3 years ago. It was a splurge item. I am not trying to get sympathy from anyone I just worry sometimes that I haven't done enough preparation for my "golden years". I guess I thought I would be financially independent by now. How I have no idea. But I guess there is more to planning than buying lottery tickets!

Losing Weight

I saw someone I haven't seen in about a year this weekend and she made me feel good telling me I had sure lost a lot of weight. My cousin,Linda who is also on the losing weight plan with me showed me this weekend how she can pull her jeans down without unzipping them. She is now wearing pants that were too small and even they are falling off of her. She is a tiny girl only 5 ft 2 inches but she is heavy too. When she loses weight it is not in one spot but more like a shrinking of everywhere. It is sometimes hard to see the loss yourself unless your cllothes are falling off and I am down to al my clothes including the ones that were too tight or too small falling off. I am reluctant to go out and get new clothes although I did do just that 2 weekends ago and the clothes I bought were 4 sizes smaller than from when I started losing weight. Even though I try I still do cheat every once in a while but I do not beat myself up over it I just make sure that whatever it is I am cheating with is worth it.Then resign myself to getting back on track not the next day but that very same day making sure not to let go all day. If I do cheat with sugar than the next day I wake up with a nasty taste in my mouth! Yuck!Ok so I am off to the W. Hope all is well in bloggerland.

Poor Osa

So I decided to give Osa a haircut myownself. And let's just say well, it will grow back. I was using an electric shears and a guard but the guard was prohibiting any hair from getting off so I removed the guard and was doing fine but then she would move and then I tried to even it out...anybody know what kind of sunscreen is good for dogs?At least, she won't get any fleas and she cannot possible y be hot. I will admit her breathing is much less labored now. I gotta get some pictures of her shaved and post them I am a bad mommy.

Weekends are too Short

Dooley giving Osa the biggest wet willie ever!

I have been absent from the blogging world for a long time now. What happened is I switched internet service from AT&T to Road Runner with the cable so for some unknown reason I went withoout internet and phone service for 3 weeks. Now we have digital phone service and high speed internet! Whoo hoo! I have been busy with work as well. But still loving it compared to any other job I ever had...I mean at the end of the day, it is all only just work, isn't it?

My childhood friend,Connie, came to visit this weekend. She and I went along with one of the clits,Jan to Wimberly for Market day. We got out there early enought to beat the crowd and did pretty good at bargain hunting and getting. I also love all the free samples of food to be had from the venders selling their wares.I only purchased a mandevilla plant for the back yard.

Then we went to a birthday party for another clit, Lois. I tried to get her a coca-cola cake for the occasion but the place I usually get it from says they no longer make them! What! Why? So, if anyone out there has the recipe for one let me know. I can make one next year. This year she got a pecan fudge pie from the Wimberly Pie Company. Yummy as it sounds too! I was not being a good dieter this weekend!

Not much excitement around here to speak of We had a burn party a couple of weeks ago. That is when the girls all get together and burn all our shred stuff. Linda, my rommate cousin, made fajitas for the lot of us and we sat around eating and drinking booze, and burning stuff. I know it sounds so exciting but it was a lot of fun.

My knees have been feeling better the last week for a change but after yesterday I was feeling all beat up again but then again I did walk around for over 2 hours!
I can lo longer take NSAIDS at all. Like Advil,Aleeve, etc. I already was unable to take tylenol due to the Hepatitis I got from a needle stick. So, now I am down to Aspirin. And maybe it is working better than the other stuff or maybe it is the warm weather or the weight I have lost or a combonation of all of it. Who knows?
WHat is everyone else up to these days?
